Snowy Start for School Break!

School break is officially underway, and we couldn’t have asked for a better start. Conditions on the mountain have been outstanding, and we’ve heard more than a few guests say it’s been “the best opening in recent memory.” We’ll take that.

We opened the season strong with 7 trails, meticulously groomed by none other than Jeff Knight…all delivering smooth, conditions that have made for happy skiers and riders. The Edge Tubing Park is also open, and our Mountain Ops team has been hard at work pushing out more snow, with guns running on Kennebec, Allagash, and St. John. Mother Nature is doing her thing, and so are we.

Not sure where to begin? You’re not alone. Maybe you’ve tried tubing and you’re ready to take the next step. Or maybe you’ve been thinking about learning to ski or snowboard but haven’t found the right time? This school break might be it.

Our Snowsports School now offers lessons not just on weekends, but Thursdays and Fridays as well. Midweek lessons mean fewer crowds, a more relaxed pace, and a great environment for learning — whether it’s your first time clicking into skis or you’re looking to build confidence and skills.

Oh and don’t forget—there really is something for everyone at Black Mountain of Maine.
Our Live Music Series continues next weekend in the Last Run Pub. Join us on Saturday, January 3rd, when Jordan Kaulback takes the stage from 2–5pm, followed by local favorite Tom LeClerc on Sunday, January 4th, from 1–4pm. Both shows are all ages and admission is FREE. 



Looking a little further ahead, L.L.Bean Days kick off January 8th. On Thursdays and Fridays, enjoy $30 lift tickets, $5 uphill tickets, plus free Nordic skiing and free snowshoeing all winter long. We even have a limited number of snowshoes and poles available to borrow, so there’s really no excuse not to get outside.

Turns, tunes, tubing, or just a warm drink by the fire, school break is shaping up to be something special at Black Mountain of Maine. See you on the hill.
